In our Windows XP SP3 environment, we had to add the following to the REG file for it to "properly" associate as the default compression utility:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.zip]

"Progid"="7-Zip.zip"

**Have not tested with any version of 7-Zip previous to 9.13**
